Proposal Session // Boston Common // Public Garden

May 23, 2017

While shooting engagement sessions, I always get to hear about the proposal but I’ve never had the chance to be a part of the beginning of the story until a few weekends ago. I am still in shock because it was so.much.fun. When Alex reached out to me I may or may not have said yes rather quickly out of excitement since this has been a huge photographer goal of mine for quite some time. After chatting through emails and finally a phone call (while he was at work and not close to Melanie hehe) we came up with a secret plan to meet by Boston Common.

Alex and Melanie live in NYC and were coming to Boston to celebrate Melanie’s birthday, least that’s what Alex told her. As the days came closer, we both were watching the pending rain storm that was hitting Boston. I’m a sucker for a good surprise let alone a surprise proposal so Alex and I made sure we had the plan down so it would all goes smoothly. We had decided to meet at Park Street where I would be sitting at the fountain pretending to be a “tourist with a camera”. As they walked by me, I captured a few moments pre-proposal as I quickly kept up with them toward the middle of the commons. Alex whisked Melanie up to the Gazebo, as discussed, and I stood below capturing each precious moment. Then finally she turns to me as Alex says, “now that you have said yes, say hello to Emily our photographer” hey girl hey! We then got to spend some time together walking through the Public Garden and I got to witness how much love was between these two people. I was so honored to be involved in your love story Alex and Melanie! Thank you so much for allowing me to capture these special moments.
