I lived in Somerville for over 2 years and when I started my business I had two goals in mind before leaving Somerville: I need to shoot at Warehouse XI and I need to expand my creative circle. Well combine my two goals, 4 boss lady hosts (Emily Tebbetts Photography, Shannon Grant Photography, Kelly Golia Events, & Gabi Valladares), an amazing group of female photographers, and some beautiful flowers/décor- you have an awesome last Sunday in Somerville. {{Incase anyone is interested I’m now on the North Shore, so hello North Shore peeps!}}
Being a business owner can be lonely at times but at The Flourish Workshop I learned that I don’t have to be alone and that I can reach out to other creatives for comfort, encouragement, a great drink recipe (Hi Gabi), and a laugh. The day began with Union Square donuts (not going to lie I think I had a Union sq. donut every day for my last two weeks in Somerville- don’t judge me) so I knew this was going to be a good day. We quickly got into creative content, marketing, social media how to’s, and finances. I felt like a sponge just soaking it all in and writing down everything these four ladies had to teach me. I felt like it was a safe space to ask questions as well. Being new to this business, I was already afraid of judgment or signing up for a conference where my question was “stupid” but this workshop was a dream come true. (I mentioned they had donuts right?- hello dream world!)
After a morning of content learning, we got to pick up our cameras for a tropical styled shoot. Bright and colorful flowers were so refreshing to see at the end of these long winter months! I am so proud of myself for expanding my circle and taking my business to the next level. 2017 busy season, I’m coming for ya!
